Under the service delivery system in Aiken County, an individuals service coordinator at the Aiken County Board of Disabilities or early interventionist at Tri-Development Center provides him/her with assistance in identifying possible providers to meet his/her needs for supports. Other members of an individuals circle of support can also provide him/her with assistance in this area. When support needs have been identified in an individuals Plan of Supports, they may be sought from various sources including, but not limited to, the following:
Community services frequently foster isolation from community. We must make sure that our service delivery system does not interfere with friendships and relationships, rather than encourage them. We must acknowledge that our community, like other communities, has separated, stigmatized, and forced isolation on people with disabilities and, frequently, their families as well.
