The Department of Disabilities and Special Needs provides services for the following individuals:
* Individuals with intellectual disabilities
* Individuals with related disabilities
* Individuals with an autism spectrum disorder
* Individuals with head injuries
* Individuals with spinal cord injuries
* Individuals with similar disabilities
* Infants that are high risk
DDSN contracts with providers to provide intake services. The provider will contact the individual and/or family, assist with obtaining all necessary documentation to establish eligibility, assist with locating resources within the community if needed, and submit the eligibility packet to DDSN. DDSN will in turn review the documents and make an eligibility determination.
To apply for services with DDSN, you must first contact DDSN’s screening line at 1-800-289-7012. You will need to provide the following information :
* Full Name of applicant
* Date of Birth
* Social Security Number
* Medicaid Number if Medicaid eligible
* Home Address
* Phone Number
* E-mail Address, if available
You will be given a random choice of qualified providers who currently serve your area for intake. You will be required to pick 3 choices and if you would like a provider that is not listed in the choices you receive, please feel free to mention your provider of choice. .
Aiken County Board of Disabilities happily provides intake services in the following counties:
* Aiken County
* Barnwell County
* Edgefield County
* Greenwood County
* Lexington County
* Orangeburg County
* Saluda County
